ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES – Ghor province
Afghan Civil Society Forum organization is an advocacy and coordination based body. Since its establishment ACSFo has been working on advocacy in different provinces of Afghanistan. All these advocacy activities were carried out either under the project or beyond project work plan. Its thematic area mostly covers on youth, disability, good governance, transparency and accountability, environment and natural resource protection, human rights and gender. Advocacy makes an essential framework for the organization, therefore, several strategic approaches and participatory methods are employed to attain achievements in advocacy.
During the month of September ACSFos’ provincial advocacy team conducted several advocacy activities and advocated for citizen’s issues in order to build a strong and sustainable trust among people and encourage citizens to participate in civil society activities. These activities mostly focused on concerns of local community which were not addressed by the government officials of Ghor province.
On 24th September regional Advocacy and Monitoring team held a meeting with local provincial authorities regarding the lax of government officials on the issues of community concerns and the promises made to the citizens of Ghor. The participants of the meeting were governor of Ghor province, chief of police, CSOs, and PDC members. The local authorities promised to coordinate with the advocacy team to organize a meeting with central government officials to take speedy account of the issues. The local security officials also presented their security plan to the participants.
At the end of the session participants agreed to establish joint advocacy team of CSO members and local authorities to follow-up the issues with central government offices.
